It also manages a neighbourhood centre and multipurpose community centres to support the community. We’re looking to recruit a suitably experienced and qualified person to help support the delivery of our growing Children’s Contact Services.
The Role
The primary purpose of the Assistant Children’s Contact Services Coordinator is to work with the Coordinator in the coordination and delivery our Family Time Program which comprises supervised contacts, supervised transport, supervised mentoring and supervised daytime respite.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Family Time Coordinator in day to day operation and coordination of the Family Time Program;
- Respond to Family Time enquiries and requests;
- Process intake and assessment of referrals;
- Ensure service quotes are prepared and processed as per requirements;
- Roster Contact Workers for scheduled service appointments;
- Ensure services are delivered in safe and appropriate indoor/outdoor spaces conducive to facilitating quality child-centered interactions between child and parent;
- Assist in the reviewing of Contact Workers case notes/reports;
- Assist in maintenance and currency of internal/external data collection and reporting requirements and systems;
- Support staff coverage of Family Time through covering shifts where no Contact Workers are available;
- Serve on the Family Time ‘on-call after-hours/weekend phone roster;
- Backfill ‘Family Time Coordinator’ during periods of leave;
About You
Essential:
- Possess tertiary qualification in social welfare or another relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated skills and experience working with children and their parents/carers.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in all aspects of facilitating quality Children’s Contact Services.
- Knowledge and understanding of child development, child protection and Office of Children’s Guardian’s National Child Safe Standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of family violence, abuse, family separation and conflict on children and young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of working with children and young people with complex and challenging behaviours.
- Demonstrated high quality interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Highly developed skills and experience in writing and critiquing client case notes.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in time management and managing high caseloads and/or large work volumes.
- Proven capacity to maintain personal wellbeing and balance through utilisation of effective self-care practice/s.
- Highly competent in use of MS Suite of computer applications and use of client management databases.
- Demonstrated skills in conflict management.
- Possess current First Aid Certificate.
- Possess current Working with Children Check.
- Possess COVID-19 vaccination certificate or willingness to adhere to any future vaccination requirements mandated by NSW Health which The Canopy may be required to adhere to.
- Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle.
- Willingness to work after hours and/or weekends (where required).
Desirable:
- Previous experience in Children’s Contact Services.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in managing staff.
- Previous experience working with children in complex situations.
- Familiarity with Federal Circuit of Family Law Court order procedures pertaining to supervised children’s contact provisions and requirements.
- Understanding of Trauma Informed Practice Framework.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising staff.
NOTE: Preferred applicants will be required to provide a National Police Criminal History Check Clearance prior to being formally offered employment.
Remuneration
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. There is the option to increase take home pay through our Not for Profit Salary Sacrifice program.
