What is headspace – Be You
headspace in collaboration with Beyond Blue deliver “Be You” the national mental health in education initiative. Be You supports educators from early learning services and schools to develop a positive, inclusive and resilient learning community where every child, young person, educator and family can achieve their best possible mental health.
The initiative has a multidisciplinary team (Clinicians, educators and other professionals) who support school communities nationally.
About the role
This exciting and diverse position will:
- Drive and deliver clinical support to Schools including suicide postvention support within Queensland
- Support the development and provision of clinical governance frameworks and practices for national responses to suicide and implementation of Be You
- Provide clinical guidance and supervision to Queensland team
- Manage continuous improvement projects to ensure resources and practices align with the latest and emerging evidence and project needs.
Who we’re looking for
headspace Be You is seeking an individual with tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology (clinical, counselling, and 4+2 or 5+1 pathway), mental health nursing, and occupational therapy.
The Be You Clinical Lead will be an individual who brings;
- An advanced level of clinical capability within child and youth mental health
- Experience in contributing to service development and fostering a positive and collaborative team culture
- A strong client focus approach to service implementation
- Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to interact with a diverse range of people

- This role requires intrastate and interstate travel and is offered until 30 June 2023 in line with our funding term.

- What is your experience in working with young people with mental health issues, including assessing risk? What is your understanding of how mental health issues impact on young people and their learning?
- This role requires:
- Overseeing clinical governance for a state based multi-disciplinary team (including the provision of clinical supervision for staff)
- Liaising and negotiating with a broad range of health professionals and organisations
- Experience mentoring a team to achieve outcomes
- Please explain your experience in these areas and outline key considerations for this position.
- A key component of the Clinical Lead role involves the provision of clinical consultation to schools and support of Be You team members when responding to a death by suicide.
- What are the effects on a school if they have been impacted by a suicide and what actions might a school take to support people who are at risk?
- How would you support Be You team members who are engaging in this work?
- What are some key characteristics in engaging schools in a mental health initiative, such as Be You? Drawing on your experience and/or observation, describe some of the challenges and opportunities you might face.

- Have a current Working with Children Check or pass a Working with Children Check (WWCC) in the State or Territory in which you work and reside in
- Satisfactorily undergo a headspace Police Check
