About the role
The Be You Consultant will work under the direction of the State/Territory Manager to support schools and systems to implement and embed Be You within their state/territory.
You will support school communities in mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention with the goal of improving outcomes for students, staff and families.
Who we’re looking for
You will be an experienced, clinically qualified mental health or education professional providing expert advice and support to primary and secondary schools.
A tertiary qualification in education (including qualification in adult education), public health promotion, community development, allied health and/or mental health, or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience is essential.
This role requires intrastate and interstate travel and is offered until 30 June 2023 in line with our funding term.

- What is your experience in working with young people with mental health issues, including assessing risk? What is your understanding of how mental health issues impact on young people and their learning?
- What are some key characteristics in engaging schools in a mental health initiative such as Be You? Drawing on your experience and/or observation, describe some of the challenges and opportunities you might face.
- What are the effects on a school if they have been impacted by a suicide and what actions might a school take to support people who are at risk?
To be eligible for this position you must
- Have the right to live and work in Australia
- Have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent, and/or pass all of the WWCC(s) required for this role (please note that for some roles, headspace requires WWCCs for other State/Territories in addition to your Home State)
- Satisfactorily undergo a headspace Police Check
- Have proof and be up to date with your Covid-19 vaccinations in accordance with the headspace COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policy and any Government directives
