Behaviour Support Practitioner Carpentaria

JOB DESCRIPTION

About us

Carpentaria is a not-for-profit organisation providing disability and therapy services for children, adolescents and adults. We deliver innovative and flexible services to empower people to thrive and live a great life, and we are committed to a philosophy that respects the rights of individuals to make informed choices about their lives.

About the role

Due to an expansion of services, Carpentaria are seeking multiple Behaviour Support Practitioners to join our supportive and friendly team. We are looking for experienced Practitioners who pride themselves on identifying person-centred interventions that address the underlying functions of behaviour, while safeguarding the rights and dignity of the person with a disability and minimising the use of restrictive practices.

Practitioners will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring behaviour support plans with contemporary evidence-based, proactive strategies that meet the specific needs of each person accessing services. Practitioners will work in consultation with the participant and their support team, and ensure all stakeholders are appropriately trained to understand Behaviour Support and implement identified behaviour support strategies.

About you

We are seeking Practitioners who are truly committed to improving the quality of life of people with disability, with a demonstrated passion to reduce restrictive intervention. You will be experienced in providing services to people with a disability with complex behavioural needs, including conducting functional behaviour assessments, development of comprehensive behaviour support plans and implementation processes. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Approved as a Core Practitioner (or above) within the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
  • Relevant qualification in allied health or social care, or at least 5 year’s relevant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • High-level report writing skills
  • Ability to lead, train, mentor and support others to effectively deliver behaviour support training

You will also need to hold (or have the ability to obtain) a current Ochre Card, Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, and an NT Driver Licence.

Why work with us?

We provide a positive work environment that encourages and promotes work/life balance, a sense of humour and having fun. In this role you will work with a great team who will encourage and inspire you to develop and progress your skills and career, whilst supporting Territorians with disabilities to live their best life.

We value our teams, and our employees enjoy a range of benefits including:

  • Salary packaging available (equivalent of up to $6,400 additional net salary)
  • 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading
  • Part-time and full-time positions available
  • Flexible work options
  • Relocation assistance available for interstate candidates
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Access to free confidential counselling and support via our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Work satisfaction – love what you do and why you do it!
