About you

Our Allied Health team is seeking a passionate, flexible and professional Behaviour Support Practitioner with therapeutic knowledge and experience for our growing practice. You will have qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science or relevant field and experience developing, writing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) a current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Social Work Association and experience developing, writing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs)

The role

The role of a Behaviour Support Practitioner is to develop, implement and evaluate positive behaviour management plans including strategies and recommendations to support people with complex needs and behaviours of concern to achieve positive outcomes; with the aim of reducing and or eliminating restrictive practices.

You will provide information, guidance and training using evidence-based, person-centred approaches to support individuals to achieve their personal goals whilst maintaining choice and control. You will provide individual counselling and therapy across the lifespan.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science or relevant field and experience developing, writing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs)
  • Demonstrated experience and well developed skills in working effectively with children, young people or adults with a range of disability, Mental health and/ or complex behavioural needs
  • Ability to work as a team member to consult, and work with staff to support children, young people and adults who present with complex behaviours or behaviours of concern
  • Experience in providing training of behaviour management strategies, working closely with individuals, families, carers, guardians and others
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
  • Current NSW Drivers licence.
  • Current WWCC or the willingness to obtain
  • Current Police Check or the willingness to obtain
  • Current NDIS Worker Check
  • Covid 19 Vaccination

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in Out of Home Care sector
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to work in Mental Health
  • Experience providing behaviour support supervision to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong group facilitation skills and/or training skills
