JOB TITLE: Behaviour Support Practitioner

Discover Counselling Services provides positive behaviour supports to NDIS participants who are engaging in challenging behaviours, and therapeutic interventions for those experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation and/or social skills. Discover Counselling Services works with participants aged 7 years and up, who present with a range of disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder and complex mental health (psychosocial disability).
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide specialist behaviour support to NDIS participants with complex behaviour needs.
- Conduct functional behaviour assessments.
- Develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans in consultation with families and key stakeholders.
- Provide training and support to implementing providers in the participants NDIS plan.
- Liaise and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Provide evidence based therapeutic supports, as required.
- Maintain detailed, accurate and up to date records.
- Achieve set KPI’s.
- Hold a current QLD Drivers Licence.
- Be fully vaccinated for COVID 19.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- Professional registration as a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist or other Allied Health Practitioner.
- Current working with children and NDIS worker screen check (or able to obtain).
- Registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner – preferred (or willing to obtain).
- Current First Aid certificate.
Experience:
- Working with complex or challenging behaviours.
- Working with people who have a disability / mental health.
- Developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (preferred).
- Delivering evidence based therapeutic interventions.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal communication.
- Excellent assessment and report writing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Ability to analyse and interpret behavioural data.
- Good organisational skills.
- Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills.
- Able to prioritise and meet organizational deadlines and KPI’s
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Knowledge and understanding of the NDIS Act and Rules in relation to behaviour support and the use of restrictive practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Disability Services Act 2006 (QLD).
Remuneration
SCHCADS Award – level 4 ($77 584.00 – $83 479.76) plus superannuation in accordance with legislative requirements.
