About the opportunity
We are currently looking to expand our Allied Health Team with a highly motivated, enthusiastic Behaviour Support Practitioner. Reporting to the Allied Health Manager and working within a small multidisciplinary Allied Health Team, you will be responsible for the delivery of behaviour support plans for people with sensory, intellectual and physical disabilities.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Provide Behaviour Support services that are timely, efficient, and effective, ensuring they meet the goals identified by the client and their families/carers and are provided within available resources
- Complete assessments (including data collation and analysis) of risk and behaviours of concern
- Develop, deliver, and monitor interventions and strategies around behaviours exhibited by people with a disability, and who may have multiple diagnoses which impact their behaviour
- Create Positive Behaviour Support Plans which will enhance clients’ Quality of Life
About the candidate
You will need the following;
- Experience providing services to individuals with disability with behaviour support needs
- Clinical knowledge and experience in providing functional behaviour assessments and demonstrate comprehensive behaviour support planning skills
- Experience in providing clinical and/or functional behaviour assessment, intervention, and support in Supported Independent Living (SIL)
- A sound knowledge of best practice positive behaviour support, evidence-based approaches and trauma informed practice
- Commitment to improving the quality of life of people with a disability and demonstrated passion to reduce restrictive intervention
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in high demand environments
- The ability to work both autonomously and within a team
- Demonstrated ability to train, mentor and support others to effectively deliver behaviour support
- Strong written communication to deliver effective plans and reporting in an NDIS environment
- Proven flexibility, adaptability and able to respond and adjust easily to change in work demands
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic records and data management tools
Our ideal candidate would also have a;
- Tertiary qualification or currently studying either Psychology/Occupational Therapy/Social Work/Speech Pathology/Diploma Community Services OR have at least 1 year experience developing/overseeing behaviour supports
- Working knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Behaviour Support Rules and relevant disability legislation
- Current registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as a recognised Behaviour Support Practitioner
- Alignment with Forsight’s purpose and values
- Right to work in Australia
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- A valid and unrestricted NSW driver’s license
- Access to your own reliable vehicle (a car allowance is included in the salary package)
- Proof of COVID-19 Booster Vaccination or willingness to obtain
