We are a collaborative team looking for experienced behaviour support practitioners to join us and help support our clients across Melbourne and Geelong.
This role is offered on a FT / PT basis with work available flexibly Monday to Friday. We offer a supportive work environment, including access to external supervision and training opportunities.
We are a non-ABA practice and our clinicians have a range of backgrounds and experiences that we bring to the team.
Qualifications & experience
- Qualification and registration in a relevant professional stream; psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, counselling, occupational therapy, or nursing.
- Experience in behaviour assessment, conducting functional behavioural analysis and the development of behaviour support plans.
- Experience working with people who have a disability and their support networks.
- The ability to engage and quickly build rapport with a variety of people
- An understanding of the legislation surrounding restrictive practices in NDIS context and the responsibilities of behaviour support practitioners.
- Current experience and registration as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner at proficient level or above (self assessment pending formal registration is fine).
- The ability to create high standard written documents within timeframes
- The ability to meet statutory requirements including NDIS Worker Check.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients and their support teams to identify behaviours;
- Assess clients with challenging behaviours / behaviours of protest to identify patterns of behaviour;
- Develop behaviour support plans and reports that are of a high standard and provide value for clients and their support teams;
- Interview clients, review records, conduct assessments;
- Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to their behavioural and NDIS goals;
- Work with clients and their support teams to develop capacity and understanding of positive behaviour support principles;
- Develop behaviour support plans that are based on the principles of positive behaviour support practice.
- Work as part of a small team to deliver great customer experience and outcomes.
