About the role:

We are looking for registered Behaviour Support Practitioners, who have experience working with Indigenous peoples and complex presentations, to join us in supporting those vulnerable groups in rural and remote Western Australia. This position involves flying out to towns within Western Australia (e.g. Karratha, Port Hedland, Newman) to provide face-to-face therapeutic, behaviour support services to those with complex behaviours of concern, in most cases, with trauma as a preceding factor. This role offers flexible working conditions and you can work from our office, your home, up north (when providing face-to-face services), or most likely a mixture of all three. There is no traditional 9am to 5pm work week and as long as you meet your monthly responsibilities (outlined in your Job Description Form), you are encouraged to work to a schedule that best suits your lifestyle (and of course, the clients you work with). 

What this role looks like:

After spending one week in orientation and induction, you will flying to the Pilbara to commence providing face-to-face supports to those clients on your caseload. You will be shadowed throughout and supported while you build your therapeutic rapport with your clients and their supports. Each month you will be responsible for providing high quality behaviour support services for 8-10 days of the month (broken up into single day, overnight and the occasional three-day trip). While this schedule will be negotiated with the applicant to fit their personal schedule and their client needs, this may look like:

  • A one day trip to Newman AND a three day trip to Port Hedland (per fortnight), or
  • A two day trip to Karratha and a two day trip to Port Hedland (per fortnight).

In addition to providing outreach services, you will possess the skills to work independently to meet 50 billable hours per month of which these can be billed at any point during the month, adhering to the flexible working arrangements. The above may look like:

  • Flying out to Karratha to complete a Behaviour Support Assessment with an Aboriginal young person, and working with their supports to up skill their ways of preventing and responding to complex behaviours. 
  • Working to provide face-to-face behavioural therapy and training to participants with complex and persistent mental and physical disabilities. 
  • Drafting robust Behaviour Support Plans while you are in Perth (or anywhere else for that matter), and speaking in Authorisation Panels to speak about any restrictive practices you may recommend. 
  • Providing Telehealth services from Perth (or anywhere that has a reliable internet connection) to vulnerable young people in Karratha, South Hedland and/or Newman. 
  • Communicating any progress, barriers, and supports required in multidisciplinary team meetings in an assertive and respectful manner in ways that everyone can understand.
  • Engaging in regular clinical supervision with an intent of bettering your critical reflective capacity and developing your professional identity.

  • love building relationships with young people, teachers, parents, support workers and other allied health professionals.
  • prefer to work independently to meet a monthly target and communicate when you require additional support or training. 
  • are a strong, confident communicator with an ability to get along with others. 

What we offer:

For the amazing service you will be providing and the regular flying, we offer a take home annual package of:

  • $120,000 per year inc. of super
  • A generous bonus structure that allows you to earn an additional $30,000 per year.

What you’ll need:

  • To be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission with as a “Core” practitioner (required)
  • Bachelors degree in Allied Health, Social Sciences, Education or Behaviour related disciplines.
  • Extensive knowledge of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally safe manner.
  • A current WWCC
  • Police clearance 
  • NDIS Worker’s Clearance
  • NDIS Practitioner’s ID
  • Driver’s license and own transport (when choosing to work within metro areas)
