Our client is a vibrant private practice made up of a multidisciplinary team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Behaviour Support Practioners. They are currently looking for a Behavior Support Practitioner to join their growing team in southern Sydney on a part time basis. The role:
- In this role, you will primarily be responsible for the provision of specialist therapeutic assistance to children, carers and support workers and other members of the child’s care team.
- You will apply practical strategies to improve relationships, behaviour, and life at home gives parents and carers a better understanding of their children’s needs.
- You will be well-versed in supporting children affected by family issues, as well as those struggling to manage their emotions, navigate friendships, and develop healthy self-esteem.

Key Responsibilities:
- Be able to identify report on behavioural issues and write functional assessments and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Assess and implement effective plans ensuring they are tailored to individuals’ goals.
- Provide a positive, engaging and person-centered approach and work collaboratively with customers, families and external stakeholders to create opportunities for capabilities and capacity development.
- Continually strive to assist the needs of children and improve the quality of life, overall reducing the needs for interventions.
- Have the ability to effectively assist children with complex and challenging needs.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team and work together towards goals.
What’s required:
- Hold the relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapists or have extensive experience provided NDIS positive behaviour support plans.
- AHPRA registered.
- To be committed to effectively observe and assess candidates’ behavioral issues and determine patients’ improvements.
- Have demonstrated experience in writing Functional Behavioral Assessments for people living with mental health issues and disabilities.
- Ability to effectively implement treatment plans, maintain progress reports and provide ongoing support to patients.
- Strong interpersonal and stress management skills with the ability to empower and influence.
