Behaviour Support Practitioner Play Therapy Melbourne

JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity to join our Team – offering a high level of flexibility in hours and location.  Full-time, Part-time and Casual considered.

At Play Therapy Melbourne we are a passionate and committed Team of Allied Health Professionals focused on empowering children and young adults to achieve their life goals.  We believe in following a neuroscience informed, neurodiverse-affirming approach to all of our work and we place participants at the centre of our planning and implementation.

About the Role

Behaviour Support is about creating individualised strategies which are responsive to the person’s needs. Strategies are developed and implemented in a way that reduces the occurrence and impact of behaviours of concern, and minimises the use of restrictive practices.  As the Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will deliver high level, evidence based clinical advice and assistance to participants and their families. Through the creation, implementation and education of positive behaviour support plans, your person-centred approach will focus on reducing the antecedents that may be at the root of challenging behaviours.

At Play Therapy Melbourne we understand that presenting behaviours are often symptoms of a dysregulated nervous system, information that what we have asked a child or young person to do or the environment they are experiencing is too much for them. At Play Therapy Melbourne we look to explore what is behind the behaviour, supporting children, families and other stakeholders to develop the skills and strategies that will ensure that they are able to reach their desired goals.
