This position IS suitable for provisional psychologists undertaking the 4+2 or 5+1 pathways to registration.

This role IS also suitable for fully registered psychologists.

About the role:

• Provide indirect care assistance to each client in accordance with their NDIS plan and Behaviour Support Plan.

• Work in accordance with the work health and safety procedures and client right’s policies including privacy and confidentiality.

• Monitor the safety and well-being of the clients and report any concerns to the Manager.

• Provide 1:1 or small group training and support in response to individual client needs.

• Ensure completion of appropriate documentation. Relevant information on support provided is to be recorded in client notes and communication book as required.

• Undertaking relevant assessments to identify causal factors of challenging behaviour, while accounting and support individuals’ medical, psychosocial and/or mental health diagnoses.

• Establishing effective strategies and plans that address the behaviour and enhance the quality of life for the individual.

• Adhering to internal and external requirements to ensure all relevant legislative and associated guidelines are met.

• Implementing and analysing data in order to monitor the plan’s effectiveness, review challenging behaviour and make any changes where required.

• Collect data, including the administration of assessments, report-writing, follow-up with stakeholders, attending care-team and NDIA-review meetings.

 

Furthermore, your responsibilities as a psychologist (provisional or registered) will include the following:

  • Ensuring that assessments are completed to evaluate participant strengths/weaknesses, assist in diagnosis, monitor change and screen for psychopathological conditions or other impairments.

 

  • Assist participants with managing their day-to-day life and assisting them to develop independence and strong emotion regulation practices.

 

  • Engage in psychotherapy and other forms of face-to-face/telehealth therapies as a means of intervention to address participants’ mental health, cognitive, emotional or behavioural difficulties.

 

  • Work and operate as part of a multidisciplinary team with internal and external stakeholders, to advocate for participants’ needs and monitor their goal progression.

 

  • Develop and formulate resources to assist you or other stakeholders with intervention methods.

 

  • Write NDIS review reports, psychological intervention/assessment reports and any other documents for advocacy of participants, outline of their progression or summary of assessment for families and/or other organisations/bodies.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a provisional/registered psychologist.

 

  • Strong and desireable qualities and characteristics, such as reliability, passion and teamworking skills.

 

  • Understanding of use of basic software (such as browsers, email software and microsoft office)

Desired but not required:

• Experience writing Behaviour Support Plans, Functional Behaviour Assessments and/or NDIS review reports.

• Experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans and/or Functional Behaviour Assessments.

• Experience working within the NDIS space.

• Experience working as a healthcare professional.
