ASD Community Support service in delivering programs for individuals diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as providing support to their families and carers.

The opportunity

A fantastic opportunity is currently available for an experienced Behaviour Technician to join our team at Burwood NSW.

In this role, you will utilise clinical skills, instruction and behaviour reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) for individuals with Autism, and other related developmental disabilities.

Supported by a Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), you will work collaboratively with other Allied Health professionals to develop transdisciplinary working practices, ensuring the best possible outcomes for your clients. We can provide supervised fieldwork hours.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualised ABA programs, using methodologies such as discrete trial training, natural environment teaching and incidental teaching’
  • Record and maintain data whilst running programs
  • Support the generalisation of goals and programs into home, community and school-based settings
  • Regular effective communication with parents and caregivers
  • Build rapport with individuals of all ages
  • Provide direct client care in individual and group settings
  • Collaborate with BCBA and other allied health professionals regarding challenging situations
  • Assist with parent/caregiver training
  • Ensure client physical, social and emotional needs are met
  • Report on progress/barriers
  • Prepare for and attend to regular client progress meetings
  • Daily administrative tasks
  • Maintain client confidentiality

Requirements

Essential:

  • Relevant education and/or with 2 years of experience as behaviour therapist/RBT
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Current Working with Children check
  • Current Police Check (or International Police Check when applicable)
  • Current drivers Licence/have access to a reliable vehicle (travel allowance provided)
  • Department /Government based check (if applicable)

Desirable:

  • Completion of level 1 ABA therapist training and/or attended 40-hour RBT course (along with 2 years experience working as an ABA therapist)
  • Education/qualification and or experience working with individuals with behavioural concerns or disabilities
  • Experience working with individuals aged 0-16 years
  • Experience providing support in a classroom or 1:1 setting
  • Experience implementing the principles of ABA
