Behaviour Therapist – Brisbane and Goldcoast – F/Time, P/Time and Casual Early Autism Services

The Organisation

Early Autism Services

 (EAS) is an in-home (and soon to be in clinic) provider of therapy services based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. We are currently seeking individuals passionate towards improving the quality of life of young learners with developmental disabilities to engage as Behaviour Therapists. Pursuing this role with EAS will advance an individual’s communication, professional, and therapeutic skills. Strong candidates will be able to display a commitment to helping children advance through life by helping them develop to their highest potential. 

Positions are currently available for Behaviour Therapists to work 1:1 or in a group environment with children (ages 2-8) in a highly individualised and supported environment. Therapy sessions are primarily carried out in clients’ homes and focus on teaching children skills across a wide-variety of domains such as communication, daily living, play, and social skills. 

This role is suited to both entry level candidates as well as those with experience. All successful applicants will be provided on-the-job training regarding ABA principles and procedures.

A Behaviour Therapist’s duties and responsibilities include:

  • Working with children in a number of skill areas under the direction and supervision of a Behavioural Consultant
  • Implementing ABA-based strategies and procedures as they are defined by a Behavioural Consultant’s programming
  • Collecting, recording and discussing data with supervisors
  • Attending team meetings and coordinating with a team of therapists
  • Involving children’s family, school, and other community members in therapy sessions
  • Traveling to the home or community setting of each client within their assigned caseload

Job requirements include:

  • Clear police and Working with Children checks as well as current first-aid and CPR certificates are essential.
  • An active driver’s license, car, and a willingness to travel between clients’ locations
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check

Related experience/credentials

  • Experience in psychology, education, child development, or a related field is beneficial to your application.
  • Experience working with young children or children with disabilities is beneficial to your application.
  • A Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) credential is beneficial but not essential.
  • Prior training in Applied Behaviour Analysis is beneficial but not essential.

Hours

  • Minimum 3 days availability Monday-Friday for part-time/ full-time.
  • Casual evening hours positions between 3pm-7pm, Monday-Friday available. 

Physical demands of this role include, but are not limited to, being able to communicate using the English language with clear & effective communication skills, hear and understand what is being communicated, maintain 20/20 vision (using correction if required), distinguish smells and identify hazards, maintain full use of both legs on a variety of surfaces, sit and stand for extended periods of time, have full use of hands & arms to handle and feel, lift and move objects weighing up to 23kg at a time, participate in repetitive movements and motions and bend, crouch, and kneel when required.
