An exciting opportunity exists for a Women’s Health Counsellor to join a dynamic team at BreastScreen Northern Sydney / Central Coast.

St Leonards and staff relief at Erina, Central Coast.

 

What you’ll be doing

Providing support and information to women accessing the BreastScreen NSW program from screening through to definitive diagnosis of breast cancer.  In addition, the co-ordination of the BreastScreen diagnostic clinics.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  3. A sound understanding of breast disease, breast cancer, and the principles of population based screening.
  4. A demonstrated understanding of the impact of a diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
  5. Proven experience/competency in women’s health and/or breast/oncology nursing counselling would be required.
  6. Demonstrated experience working with clients in a clinical health setting who are dealing with difficult emotional issues.
  7. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of information technology and accurate data entry skills.
