About the role:
The Burton Street Centre Social Worker will work as part of the St Vincent’s Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) to provide Social Work input, counselling and case management to young people who use methamphetamine and other drugs. This Social Work role will also include working with client’s families and careers.
The Social Worker will be responsible for conducting assessments, complex care planning, brief interventions and discharge planning for clients accessing the service.

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2.Degree in Social Work and eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and Current NSW Driver’s License category3. Able to demonstrate competence, knowledge and experience in the assessment, treatment and care coordination of young persons with complex needs. 4. Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of and ability to apply the principles of trauma-informed care and harm minimisation framework in working alongside young people who use substances.
5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision 6. Demonstrated understanding of the health and social issues affecting people who use drugs, and an understanding of harm reduction-based approaches in working with substance use.
7. Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary teamwork in an environment with competing priorities.
8. Computer literacy including using electronic patient record systems and demonstrated excellent negotiation, verbal and written communication skills.4.
