About the Women’s and Children’s Health Network
The Women’s and Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia.
It is the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. It also provides important community-based services.
Each year, more than 30,000 people are admitted and about 5000 babies are born at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. In addition more than 250,000 people come to the hospital as outpatients.
The hospital has 295 beds. The hospital’s paediatric and adolescent wards cater for all paediatric specialties. Women’s wards provide antenatal, gynaecology, neonatal and postnatal care.
About the Role
Within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy and the Standards for Mental Health Services and in a manner consistent with the stated Vision and Values of the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN), The AHP2 provides clinical expertise for children, adolescents and their families with mental health issues. The AHP2 primarily provides direct expert care for an individual or group of clients and/or providing clinical leadership to multidisciplinary staff.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, statewide and hospital-based services for perinatal women.
CAMHS Connect is the triage service for CAMHS in SA and provides a consistent phone entry point for consumers and standardise referral management across CAMHS. Connect staff will undertake phone triage and make recommendations for ongoing mental health support where appropriate. Including to CAMHS teams and other mental health services.
As a Clinician with mental health experience you will strive toward a reflective, systemically and dynamically informed contribution to team activities. All activities will be undertaken with a common goal; offering a child, young person and family an experience of being understood, contained and supported to cope as they move into appropriate further mental health care.
You will have the day to day support of a Clinical Coordinator, Senior clinicians and colleagues.
CAMHS Connect is located in North Adelaide. Work hours are across the Monday to Friday working week, shifts between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm .
