What you’ll be doing
The CAMHS Consultation Liaison clinician sits within the Consultation and Assessment clinical stream of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
Clinical interventions incorporate evidence based practice, with a focus on early intervention and recovery.
The CAMHS Consultation Liaison clinician is required to deliver assertive outreach, providing specialist mental health services and tertiary consultation to children and young people (0-18) in:
- Community settings including: school, homes, out of home care settings, youth accommodation and other community based settings.
- Hospital based non-CAMHS specific settings including: Emergency Departments, Psychiatric Emergency Care Centres (PECCs), Paediatric Wards, Medical Wards, Adult Mental Health Units and Mental Health Acute Care Teams.
- The program will provide additional assertive outreach community CAMHS services and support the increase in client related hours delivered by existing community CAMHS.
- Increase outreach consultation liaison to hospital based non-specialist CAMHS settings.
- Enhance specialist community-based responses for children and adolescents with mental health problems and their families
- Build the capacity of non-specialist services to deliver developmentally appropriate care for children and adolescents with mental health problems, their families and carers.
The position is classified as follows Social Worker level 3, Occupational Therapist level 3 under the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State Award) or CNS 2 under the Public Health System Nurses Award or Senior or Clinical Psychologist under the Health and Community Employees Psychologist (State) Award.
