Care Coordinators – Child and Adolescent Mental Health

The Victorian Government has allocated funds to support rural and regional Area Mental Health Services (AMHS) to provide incentives to attract workers to roles that are difficult to fill.

The regional mental health workforce incentive grants will support the attraction, recruitment, and retention of new workers to priority positions across state funded mental health services in rural and regional Victoria. Workforce Navigator Program: We offer 1:1 relocation consultant support for new Mental Health employees to assist with finding housing, childcare/education (if applicable), partner employment (if applicable), social groups & integration into our community to assist in the transition to Shepparton, regional Victoria.

About the role

These exciting new roles are suitable for early in career nursing and allied health clinicians with a passion for learning and developing skills in the specialised area of infant, family and youth mental health care provision.  Under the supervision of more experienced mental health clinicians, you will be responsible for the care coordination of families engaged with the CAMHS service.  Duties will include scheduling of appointments, coordination of care team meetings, completion of referrals, liaison with education, health and welfare agencies, and supporting engagement with the service.

The positions will be generously supported with professional development opportunities, along with dedicated educator support to embed new learning under supervision. 

We are looking for:

  • Current registration with the AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse
  • Social Worker must have an approved degree and eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Willingness to learn specialist child and youth mental health skills and engage in professional development
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills

  • Essential : Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse

  • Essential : Interest and/or experience in mental health service provision
  • Essential : Willingness to learn specialist child and youth mental health skills and engage in professional development
  • Essential : An understanding of the challenges young people and families face in navigating the mental health service system
  • Essential : Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Essential : Accurate and timely communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Essential : Current drivers licence
  • Desirable : Experience working in child and youth mental health services
  • Essential : A satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian ‘Employee’ Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration will be required from prospective candidates prior to commencement of employment.
