Careers Counsellor Camberwell Grammar School

JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT US

Camberwell Grammar School is an independent Anglican day school for boys from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. We aim to give every student in our care the very best possible education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a learning community which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its values; Learning, Respect, Integrity, Courage and Optimism. We are proud of the sense of community that characterises our school.

Our School campus is located in the leafy inner East suburb of Canterbury, on land originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and blends period architecture with exciting contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Careers Practitioner who will manage school-wide career development programs and activities and provide guidance and support to students in their career exploration and decision making.  You will also coordinate careers education initiatives which provide students and families with careers and general higher education advice to inform decision-making around post-school destinations.  You will play a critical role in helping students identify their interests, strengths, and aspirations and navigate career options.

This is a rewarding role where you have the opportunity to make a significant impact.

This is a full time 12-month fixed term contract commencing in 2024 in a progressive, supportive and well-resourced educational environment.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience working within a secondary school setting and have a track record of success in providing targeted careers counselling and support to students.  You may be a teacher and interested in also teaching a class in a subject area appropriate to your background, or alternatively you may have relevant tertiary qualifications and industry experience.

You will predominantly be working with students, families and staff in the Middle and Senior School years. You are an expert in your field who can lead by example and model exceptional practice and make a meaningful contribution to the development of careers programs and activities for our students.  You are able to build rapport with staff and students and build collaborative working relationships.

Our programs are deliberately structured to educate the whole student – not just the mind. You will play a pivotal role in this vision.
