Your Opportunity:
This specific opportunity requires established skills in working directly with families, guiding and supporting their individual journeys, and achieving outcomes together. This role would suit professionals who thrive on working in community and in the family home, responding to needs and working alongside the family and stakeholder team. If you are an established youth worker case manager or newly qualified social worker seeking a new opportunity or the initial stage of leadership, this could be for you.
We are seeking a swift start for the right applicant.
In this role, you will facilitate therapeutic individualized support to achieve sustainable change in families with complex needs, whilst working alongside the family to prevent a family from entering or re-entering the statutory child protection system. This may also include supporting existing in-home placements to stabilise and upskill in behavior support techniques.
Daily direct work with families and young people to guide, mentor, and facilitate their development, connect them to services and community, support and guide them in safe behavior or safe parenting, mental health support, and drive their intervention journey forward with them at the forefront.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing therapeutic intervention to children and families experiencing child protection issues and direct youth support, often working with mental health, DFV, AOD, and complex behaviors is required. Assistance to access community connections and education in parenting upskilling and psychosocial support is required.
- Engage with families and young people, explore mutual obligations, complete required forms, and develop collaborative goals from a strengths-based, child-centered, family-focused practice framework
- Engage with clients based on a professional assessment of critically-of-needs, risk assessment, and safety planning alongside the family.
- Engage with the community, parents, and children to enhance their opportunities, reduce their vulnerabilities, and connect to their community
- Provide early intervention-focused services, support families to strengthen the care and protection of children living at home, strengthen parenting practice, and increase the safety and well-being of the family.
- Develop and drive the case plan working alongside families and stakeholders, providing appropriate links and connections where possible
- Respect and seek cultural advice to ensure client families have access to a range of culturally safe support options, where appropriate.
Requirements for Success:
Desirable – Qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, ASD specialist various therapy modalities, Youth Justice, Community Support, Social Welfare, etc.
Diploma level – plus extensive proven experience in this field.
- Experience in implementing therapeutic interventions with young people and/or families.
- Understanding of Child Protection legislation and child protection concerns and risk factors, problem solvers
- Demonstrated understanding of Early Intervention principles in working with families with multiple and complex needs
- Knowledge and awareness of community and regional connections to assist clients with their access to community
- Understanding of Vicarious Trauma and Self-Care to manage the personal impact of exposure to critical and complex issues
- Demonstrated crisis management, referral, and advocacy skills.
- Have a creative perspective when working with case management.
