Intensive Family Support
The Intensive Family Support Service responds to vulnerable families with children and young people (up to 18), who are at risk of involvement in the statutory child protection system. This is a consent based program providing case management for clients who agree to engage with the service.
About the Case Manager
Case Managers work collaboratively with families to identify and prioritise their presenting needs and provide intensive support interventions and engagement with specialist services. As part of a team, on a day-to-day basis you will:
- Work with parents and other caregivers, through tailored interventions to build the skills and capacity of parents and carers’ to safely nurture and protect their children
- Develop engagement strategies for families experiencing domestic and family violence
- Conduct home visits and continually assess safety and child protections concerns
- Identify, develop and maintain case plans and goals with families so child protection concerns are addressed within timeframes
- Undertake risk assessments where domestic and family violence is identified and engage all family members
- Liaise and negotiate with service providers including Child Safety
- Independently manage a case load of families
To make a difference in this role, you will have:
- University qualifications in human services or related field
- Working knowledge of domestic violence issues in the community and issues associated with families at risk of entering the child protection system
- Track record in negotiating with service providers
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective written communication including the capacity to conduct assessments and develop an evidence-based rationale
