Case Manager: Post Custodial Support The Buttery Limited

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role: As a Post-Custodial Support Case Manager with us, your role will involve helping people rebuild their lives after incarceration and supports people released from custody to reduce the risk of harmful AOD use. They help participants reintegrate into the community using a variety of tools and supports such as

•           intake and assessment

•           transition planning and risk assessment,

•           individual counselling and goal setting

•           supported referrals for clinical and medical interventions

•           referrals for employment, training and housing

•           family and community engagement 

•           living skills development.

 

About the program 

The aim of the program is to reduce risk of harmful AOD use, overdose and suicide, and to decrease re-offending rates. The role works with people exiting centres such as Clarence Correctional Centre or Mid North Coast Correctional Centre or those exiting custody elsewhere who intend to live in the region.

A vehicle is available from a central location for work in the community. The program is funded to September 2027. 

 

Hours and location: There is one full time role for 35 hours a week based in Kempsey.

The program has a team of four staff based in Kempsey, Grafton and Binna Burra and a manager. For one of the roles, we are looking for candidates who have lived experience of staying in a custodial environment and the location of that role is flexible. 

 

About you: Selection criteria: 

Qualifications and checks

  1. Diploma level qualification or above in Community Services, Social Work, Mental Health, Justice, Psychology and/or Welfare Studies 
  2. Current Driver’s Licence, a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Working with Children Check, COVID vaccination and First Aid certificate.

Professional skills and experience

  1. Experience working within AOD, criminal justice or another relevant sector with an understanding of complex clinical presentations.
  2. Substantial case work experience to support a range of practical and psychosocial needs and community support for people who have experienced incarceration.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft suite, a variety of databases and video conferencing tools such as zoom.

This role will be remunerated at SCHCDS Level 4 (41.52ph). For a 35 hour week, this is a package of approximately $84k including superannuation with access to salary packaging to potentially increase your take home pay by another 5k.
