Who we are looking for
RASA is seeking a skilled Case Manager to join our team. In this role, you will directly support families by providing high quality therapeutic case management services and implementing restorative practices. Your focus will be on addressing child protection concerns for unborn babies and infants within the kinship system. Additionally, you’ll play a crucial role in facilitating communication between the family and community-based services. To be successful in this role you will need:
- Knowledge and understanding of child development, the impact of trauma on children and parenting caused by violence, abuse and neglect, along with factors of alcohol and substance misuse and mental health challenges.
- Implementing Restorative Practice, Signs of Safety and Attachment theory in therapeutic case management.
- Tertiary qualifications (AQF level 7) in social work, psychology, occupational therapy, developmental education, counselling or youth work, or a Diploma (AQF Level 5) with equivalent experience in a one of the aforementioned fields.
- Experience working with infants, children and parents dealing with the impact of trauma caused by violence, abuse and neglect, and co-morbid factors of alcohol and substance misuse, mental health challenges.
- Experience in assessment, risk screening, case planning and review.
- Experience in collaborative case management and effective interagency liaison.
- Experience in delivering services to children and families at risk of entering the child protection system.
- Experience in providing collaborative case management and working with interagency networks supporting children and families at risk.
- Experience working with families with infants and young children including families from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.
It would be a bonus if you have:
- Further qualifications in Case Management, Social Work, Psychology, Peri Natal Mental Health or related disciplines.
- Experience in program development, client outcomes monitoring and reporting.
What you will be doing
- Engage families using proactive face-to-face strategies, including ‘high support high challenge’ approaches, cold calling, and unannounced home visits.
- Share child protection concerns and follow ISG protocols for information sharing.
- Provide timely case management activities for families, working intensively for a 6-8 month timeframe with each family.
- Manage a case load of 8-10 high-risk, complex cases, providing four hours of support per week per family, gradually stepping down until closure or handover to the next lead agency.
- Use evidence-based practices and validated tools, guided by Signs of Safety and Restorative Practice principles, to assess and support family and individual challenges.
- Establish interagency collaboration for each new family referred to the Safe Start program, conducting regular client service reviews.
- Contribute to the efficient functioning of Safe Start through the use of client information systems and technologies.
- Support service compliance in monitoring and reviewing service delivery data for quality outcomes and efficient use of funding.
- Follow directions provided by the Safe Start Service and Practice Lead in responding to complex clients and managing high-risk escalations.
