The Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge is committed to hearing the voices of women and children and providing holistic supports that include safe accommodation, education, counselling and advocacy to families at risk of or experiencing violence.
Your aim as Case Worker will be to empower clients, allow them time to make decisions and listen to their needs, focus on their strengths and work with them to overcome difficulties and barriers in a respectful way.
We are looking for someone who is qualified and experienced, with a minimum of Certificate III Community Services or equivalent. You will be responsible for providing a high standard of support to all women who are victims of domestic and family violence. You must have an awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history.
Key responsibilities, but not limited to:
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Supporting clients to meet their daily needs, activities and recreational opportunities;
- Working with clients to enhance their practical living, social and conflict resolution skills;
- Assisting with household duties at the Refuge accommodation including cleaning/tidying, laundry, preparing meals/refreshments
- Building and maintaining trusting, empowering and sustainable relationships with clients that facilitate choice, independence and increased participation in the community;
- Supporting clients to attend their appointments and activities – this may include driving them;
- Providing information and support that encourages clients to develop positive relationships;
- Implementing client support/case plans;
- Assessing risk and responding with appropriate interventions and completing risk assessment documentation;
- Providing information, resources and networking support to clients
You will be required to be in possession of:
- Working with Children (Ochre) card
- National Police History Check
- Current Driver’s License
