JOB DESCRIPTION

In anticipation of an unprecedented volume of work projected for 2024, we are inviting expressions of interest for a Case Worker.

We are currently seeking a Case Worker to join the Family Safety Services team. As a Case Worker, you are responsible for the intake, case planning and management of direct referrals to the program. The role provides coordinated, wraparound support for clients from when they are first referred through to when they are discharged from the service, utilising a trauma-informed approach.

This position will be offered on a Permanent Part Time working 60.8 hours per fortnight.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Counselling or Social Work informed practice.
  • Ability to develop rapport, be non-judgmental and provide a high level of counselling, case management and assessment to clients.
  • Ability to apply current knowledge of developmental and psychosocial issues to assess clients and refer effectively if deemed necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer, numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
  • Communication and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Family and Domestic Violence and working with Family Safety
  • Knowledge in developmental and psychosocial issues.
  • Knowledge of relevant theoretical approaches for working with young people and families
  • Knowledge and understanding of person centred, strengths based, trauma informed and child safe practice 
  • Knowledge of the principles and legal basis of ‘duty of care’ and statutory reporting requirements, in particular mandatory and non-mandatory reporting legislation
  • Strong culturally safe practice and knowledge to ensure the cultural safety of clients, including those from an Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background, or the LGBTIQA+ community.
  • Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
  • Unrestricted drivers’ licence 
  • Working With Children Check 
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
