About the role

You will provide casework support to clients in the Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) as they establish themselves in their first 12 months in Australia.  You will provide individualised support to clients to identify strengths and needs and assist in setting and attaining identified goals. You will work with other agencies and organisations in a collaborative approach to source appropriate support for clients.

HSP provides tailored and holistic case management to newly-arrived migrants to build on their strengths and support their needs. This includes: 

  • Assistance to become socially and financially independent.
  • Support from bilingual case workers and volunteers.
  • Support to build client confidence through orientation programs.
  • Community connection with mainstream health, educational and accommodation services.
  • Specialised and intensive services for people with complex needs.

What you will bring

  • Proven ability to provide high quality, specialist casework support and case management
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to holistically assess complex client needs, including conducting risk assessments, and developing effective case plans and safety planning
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds who have experienced grief, loss, torture, and trauma and who experience ongoing safety risks
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in contributing to interagency collaboration and ability to lead collaboration, advocate and network with internal and external stakeholders
  • Well-developed understanding of the refugee and resettlement experience
  • A qualification in Social Work or a similar related field is highly desirable for this role. 

Working with Children check is a mandatory requirement for this role.
