  • SCHADS Award Grade 4 – $92,175 TRP (including salary $82,046)

About CatholicCare NT and the Program 

CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing social services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children, groups, schools and agencies across the Northern Territory. 

 

CCNT’s men’s DFV programs include a Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) in Darwin and Wadeye and court support for men who use violence in their relationships in Darwin and Katherine. The primary purpose of these programs is the safety of women and children. 

 

About the role

The Case Worker is responsible for undertaking outreach in the community, comprehensive assessments and referrals for immediate and longer-term needs of participants. This position has a particular focus on actively engaging men who use violence in their relationships and supporting their participation in services that facilitate lasting behavioural change. It involves establishing collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders, monitoring risk and safety for affected family members, and providing ongoing support to male participants beyond program completion or termination.

 

What we are looking for 

  • Relevant qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Welfare Studies or Men’s Family Violence with substantial experience in a similar role.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of domestic and family violence, its impact on women and children and the diverse drivers and contributing factors.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with men who have used violence in their relationships including communicating in a non-judgemental and non-confrontational manner.
  • A trauma-informed approach to be able to navigate complex dynamics sensitively, establish clear boundaries, and avoid inadvertently enabling harmful behaviour.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and documenting observations accurately and objectively in case notes. 
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous men.
