JOB DESCRIPTION

THE ORGANISATION

PGCNV is one of the primary providers of family and domestic violence services in the Northern Corridor, which includes Three Safe Accommodation sites. 

Our reputation is driven by our commitment to providing a high-quality client focused sustainable service to clients accessing our suite of programs and services.

In addition to the provision of accommodation services, PGCNV ensures timely and effective provision of advocacy, referral information and support to women and their children seeking relief from the impact of domestic violence.

ROLE

We have an exciting new position and are seeking a motivated and experienced Case Worker to join our Refuge Services team. 

ROLE PURPOSE

Working as part of a dynamic fast paced team, the Case Worker reports to the Site Lead, where you will play a crucial part in the 24/7 Lead Service, focusing on providing vital support within a refuge setting for women and children escaping family and domestic violence.  Our Case Worker assists with the implementation of client centered practices underpinned by The Code of Practice for Women’s Refuges in WA. 

KEY DELIVERY AREAS INCLUDE:

  • Capacity to lead a diverse team, delegate tasks, and provide clear direction in high-stress situations.
  • Skilled in handling crisis situations with a calm demeanor, making quick and informed decisions to ensure the safety of clients and team members.
  • Lead and guide a multidisciplinary support team. Develop comprehensive case management plans, assigning roles and responsibilities to team members to ensure effective collaboration and client-focused outcomes
  • Respond promptly to crisis situations, including instances of imminent danger or harm. Utilise trauma-informed approaches to provide emotional support and resources to clients in distress
  • Responding to and supporting referrals into the service from women and children seeking refuge from family and domestic violence.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessment and safety planning with clients 
  • Ensure data collection of client and program records are accurate, up to date, and stored as required for compliance with confidentiality and privacy requirements
  • Coordinating support and services for clients
  • Managing transition and case closure
  • Collaborating with the Site and Service Lead to seamlessly integrate support services within the refuge setting
  • Overseeing the safety and well-being of refuge residents, working closely with the support team to address immediate needs
  • Building collaborative relationships with external service providers to ensure comprehensive care for residents
  • Participating in team meetings and case discussions to ensure a coordinated support approach
  • Identifying and communicating potential risks to residents, staff, and the refuge environment

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

This position is full-time and the normal hours of work are between 11am and 7.06pm Tuesday – Saturday. Some additional out of hours work may be required.  Travel may be required throughout Perth Metropolitan area. 

COMPETENCIES

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive knowledge of family violence risk assessment and management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities. 
  • Ability to work autonomously within a collaborative practice model and adapt to evolving practice methods.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively engage with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and a commitment to cultural safety and diversity.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in information technology and the ability to adapt to new software and platforms.
  • A positive and collaborative approach to teamwork and the ability to mentor and guide less experienced staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant qualification and/or degree in Social Science, Social Work, Community Services or Mental Health or extensive demonstrated relevant experience.
  • At least one year of experience in a family violence or related role.
  • Experience or understanding of Client Centred Practices
  • Always hold a valid WWC Card and current driver’s licence
  • Valid Police Clearance (no older than 3 months). Subsequently staff must report any criminal charges or court appearances.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Proof of Right to Work in Australia
