The Role

The Settlement Engagement and Transition Services (SETS) is a Commonwealth funded program assisting newly-arrived refugee and migrant families and individuals to acquire knowledge, skills, strategies and support networks that support integration and successful settlement into Australian communities. Settle In is a partnership between Communicare (Lead), Save the Children and Centrecare, which provides a range of SETS services to individuals and families in the South East and South West metropolitan regions of Perth, and Mandurah.

This position works as part of a team of Case Workers within an integrated service who deliver a range of programs and activities to support individuals to achieve English language proficiency, identify opportunities to further their education, gain employment and assistance to identify and access other services and supports.

This role is full-time and is based in our Gosnells office, however you maybe required to work across the the Perth South East region in an outreach capacity to respond to the diverse needs of the target group.

A Few Specifics

  • Previous experience working in a similar role, preferably within settlement services and/or with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse target group.
  • Understanding of the issues and challenges impacting humanitarian entrants and other vulnerable migrants entering Australia.
  • Ability to develop rapport, be non-judgmental and provide a high level of risk assessment, safety planning, individual and group work, case management to clients in family and domestic violent situations.
  • Accurately maintain all client record keeping, reporting, case notes and other reporting in accordance with Communicare and funding body requirements.
  • Develop and facilitate group work and life skills sessions to individuals, families, and young people in the areas of employment, education and training, family and social support and health and wellbeing.
