  • Part-time, 28 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, with flexible hours

About our client

The Junction Neighbourhood Centre (JNC) provides a diverse range of community services and programs for the communities in Eastern Sydney, with a focus on people who are socially isolated, disadvantaged and vulnerable.  As a not-for-profit organisation operating for nearly 50 years, the focus of our work is strengthening communities and creating connections. We have community centres in Maroubra, Glebe and Bondi Junction which provide community information and places for the community to meet and participate in a wide range of groups, classes and programs.  We have capacity building projects targeting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people who are socially isolated.  We also offer specialised services for older people and their carers, for families with children under 13 and learning and development services for agencies in the region.
  
About the opportunity

Working in a collaborative team of caseworkers, this role involves enabling women who are experiencing Domestic & Family Violence to stay safely in their own home or home of their choice. This is done through case management, safety strategies and support for women in the local LGA. The role involves:

  • Day-to-day management of complex caseload of clients and management of new referrals
  • Case management of clients in the Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) program as per program guidelines including risk assessment, safety audits, and safety plans according to DV safety assessment tool.
  • Assess, approve and monitor brokerage expenditure to provide security upgrades for clients
  • Participate in the Womens Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service and local Safety Action Management (SAM) meetings
  • Maintaining and growing key stakeholder relationships in the community
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation and maintain referral pathways with other service providers

This role could be right for you if you:

  • Bring experience working in the Family and Domestic Violence space or strong knowledge of working with women and children experience DFV 
  • Have experience working professionally as a case worker with complex clients 
  • Highly responsive and adaptable to handle a busy working environment
  • Have qualifications in community service, case work or similar
  • Bring a respectful, non-judgemental and collaborative working style
  • Have highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Bring strong administrative skills and a proactive approach
  • Identify as female
