Centrecare Incorporated, in partnership with Wungening Aboriginal Corporation delivers this service Stronger Together Intensive Family Support which focuses on the needs of vulnerable children and families experiencing significant disadvantage and adverse consequences. Providing culturally secure, family focused services to support families to minimise risk to children and young people and to divert them from the child protection system.

About Wungening Aboriginal Corporation
Wungening is a community-controlled organisation delivering counselling, education, advocacy and support services including drug and alcohol, family violence services and accommodation and justice programs.
The role
The Stronger Together program provides intensive in-home family support services to families who are most at risk of child protection intervention or families who require support to reunify children back to their care.
The aim of this role is to provide direct support, advocacy and referrals to families and their children to deal effectively with trauma caused by sexual abuse, family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, housing, health and justice issues by working alongside them to develop skills to enhance their safety and life skills.
A Few Specifics
- To provide assessment, case planning and support for families to keep children safely at home and reunification of children back into the family home.
- Assist at-risk families to gain access to mainstream and specialist services as required and requested.
- Help increase skills development and education programs made available to families, children and young people in the target area.
Essential
- Recognised qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Counselling and/or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other organisations to achieve positive community outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience conducting extensive screening, assessment and case planning for children, young people and families, especially Aboriginal families.
- Demonstrated experience providing strength-based, culturally secure services to children, young people and families.
- Sound therapeutic knowledge and skills.
- Well-developed communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to lead and work within a multiagency, multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work Monday to Friday
Desirable
- Understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and external standards that apply to relevant work practices.
- Understanding of the Family Support Network Operating Framework or Guiding Principles
- Understanding and/or experience with case conferencing for families involved with multiple community services.
- Experience leading teams delivering outreach based services
