Case Worker – Youth Justice Mercy Community

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role

The Families & Young People Team at Mercy Community currently has vacancies for Caseworkers to work in our Youth Justice Program. These are casual positions based in Murgon supporting the community.

The Caseworker for the Youth Justice program is responsible for quality service delivery to children, young people, families through the provision of support and intervention where necessary with the ultimate aim of decreasing the young person’s offending and reoffending behaviours. This service has a primary focus of service delivery to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $45.00 to $48.25 (pay point will vary depending on qualifications and experience). You will also have the opportunity to increase your take-home pay by salary sacrificing and other benefits.

To be eligible for this position you will require:

  • Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or other recognised qualification that meets the Minimum Qualification Standards for Residential Care Staff in Queensland; or equivalent suitable industry experience.
  • A highly developed understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Demonstrated ability to use IT systems such as MS Word and Excel.
  • Queensland Provisional Green (P2) or Open Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
