Our client, Women’s Health and Family Services, is a well-established and highly regarded independent ‘for purpose’ community services organisation, supporting the health and wellbeing of women, their families, and their communities, providing assistance to vulnerable and disadvantaged women through their clinic, counselling, and support services.

The services the organisation provides are open to all Western Australian women and their families, with consideration made for the unique needs of Aboriginal, migrant and refugee families.  
  
About the Role
 
The Case Worker Mental Health/AOD roles are part of a Pilot Project called Active Response Team – ART, a recovery-focused collaboration between two organisations providing multidisciplinary coordinated support and treatment for individuals with severe and/or persistent mental health issues who have multiple treatments and support needs and would benefit from recovery-focused intensive psychosocial support to keep them well in the community.

As a member of the ART multi-disciplinary team, the roles provide emotional and practical support, case management, and counselling to consumers on an individual and group basis (including face-to-face, telephone, and outreach). In addition, the roles assist with identifying consumers needs for wellness, options for recovery, and support to navigate their way through community services whilst at the same time, supporting and promoting hope for recovery, choice and self-determination, skills, and strategies to enhance and improve the experience of recovery for consumers.
  
The roles are available on a Part-time (3 OR 4 days per week) OR Full-time, 5 days per week basis across three sites in Joondalup, Osborne Park and Wanneroo. If you are seeking part-time hours, please advise in your applications what hours/days you are ideally seeking.
  
Job Requirements
   
To be successful in this role you will possess strong interpersonal skills to engage with consumers, their families and Carers coupled with skills in person-centered, consumer-focused practice, problem-solving, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic, psychoeducational or support groups.  

Essential:

  • Qualified in one of the following disciplines: Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience as a mental health and/or AOD counselor
  • A good understanding of recovery-oriented practice and available AOD and Mental Healthservices in the community with a demonstrated ability to support clients to access services,groups, information, and other supports to strengthen and support their recovery
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with government and non-government health and welfare service providers to pursue practical strategies to improve service delivery to consumers.
  • Ability to write comprehensive case notes, engage in case conferencing and case formulation and write reports when required.
  • Clinical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work alongside people with multiple needs and complex trauma using a case management approach to treatment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity and inclusion, access and equity, social justice and multiculturalism in Australia and cultural sensitivity in relation to best practice
  • Competent in using Office 365 products
  • Valid Western Australian Driver’s License
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • In line with Western Australian Government Department of Health guidelines, certification of COVID-19 vaccination

Desirable:

  • Experience with outreach/community-based mental health or AOD sector
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the provision of crisis care
  • Experience in working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Reliable vehicle to travel between centres (mileage allowance provided for work-related travel)
