Permanent Part time: 60 hours per fortnight

Part time-18 month Fixed Term Contract: 60 hours per fortnight 

6 month Probationary Period Applies – All Employment is subject to ongoing Funding

Specialist Homelessness Services

Yes Unlimited is the lead agent for all Specialist Homelessness Services in the Southern Murrumbidgee area and in partnership with Homes Out West, Vinnie’s Services and VERTO Tenants Advice, provide a range of services that support people who are experiencing homelessness or are considered to be at risk of homelessness. 

The Centralised Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention Specialist

The Centralised Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention Specialist provides a critical first point of contact for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and people experiencing domestic and family violence within Albury and surrounding areas.  Working within and across the Yes Unlimited and partner agencies teams, the Centralised Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention Specialist provides initial assessment and triage and is responsible for initiating an appropriate response within our internal services and within the broader community resources aimed at preventing homelessness, responding to domestic and family violence, addressing housing crisis and/or facilitating access to a long-term housing solution. 

  • Assess immediate client housing and support needs within the context of their community connections, significant others, personal strengths and capacities
  • Provide Intake and Assessment services on an outreach basis as required
  • Provide immediate supportive brief interventions and follow up as appropriate on short term issues
  • Facilitate effective pathways to crisis/transitional accommodation and longer term case management support options within the Yes Unlimited Homelessness Service Model and broader service system
  • Advocate and liaise, in conjunction with the client, in the dealings with other professionals, agencies, services and other jurisdictions
  • Lead the management, layout and maintenance of the physical space of the HUB foyer ensuring it is aligned with Yes Unlimited values and promotes a sense of safety and calm
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of formal referral protocols and effective relationships with a range of community services agencies
  • Actively engage in the development and operationalising of Yes Unlimited’s Model of Practice which includes Strength Base Practice, Trauma Informed Approach and the Five Foundations

Key Selection Criteria:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Have, or be working towards the completion of, a formal qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare, or related discipline and/or prior experience in working within the community sectors
  • Prior experience in providing case management or crisis intervention will be a significant advantage

Skills & Knowledge

  • A demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of Strengths Based and Trauma Informed principles and practice
  • An understanding of the issues relating to homelessness in our local context
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to establish rapport, engage with and motivate others
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team toward established goals
  • Sound administration skills including confidence in the use of information and communications technology

Other requirements

  • Have and maintain a current driver’s license, sound driving record and industry relevant Police check (provided) and NSW Working with Children clearance;
  • Have and maintain a current First Aid Certificate.
