Child and Adolescent Counsellor / Wodonga Junction Support Services

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role

The Child and Adolescent Counsellor is primarily responsible for providing therapeutic counselling to children and young people aged up to 18 years, who are victim survivors of family violence and/or have experienced homelessness. Counselling is delivered in various forms including; individual, family work and group work. While the role is child focused, this service adopts a family orientated approach, requiring close work with the child’s/adolescent’s caregivers to encourage their engagement in relation to the young person’s needs.
This role operates largely on an outreach basis and works closely alongside all other members of the Families and Children’s Specialist Services team. The Child and Adolescent Counsellor position receives referrals from local primary schools, child protection, specialist family violence and homelessness services and the community. All children and young people accessing the service will require a comprehensive assessment to be undertaken to determine individual therapeutic needs.

This role can be located at either our Wodonga or Wangaratta offices.
