With over 25 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for more than 30 years. About the job…

We are seeking a Full Time Child & Family Consultant to join our caring, compassionate and friendly team in Rockhampton until 31 May 2024.

Extension of employment contract beyond this date is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.

About the program…

The Individual Support Packages (ISP) program works in partnership with Child Safety to provide holistic trauma-informed support to children in the child protection system. The ISP team work in close collaboration to deliver bespoke support packages informed by each child’s needs and focuses on increasing the capacity of their support network to meet these.

Key responsibilities:

  • Use a trauma-informed model to support children and their ecological networks to achieve better outcomes.
  • Professionally and ethically represent Act for Kids in the delivery of the ISP services.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with all ISP and partner agencies for the benefit of the service, children and the families.
  • Maintain up-to-date output and outcomes data for all clients as required by Act for Kids policies and procedures.

About you…

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (social work, human services, allied health, psychology, speech and language pathology or occupational therapy). 
  • Professional registration (if required). 
  • Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable). 
  • At least five (5) years’ experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or have experienced abuse and neglect, or more than five years’ experience working in similar roles. 
  • Demonstrated specialist skills in at least one of the following areas trauma, attachment, social-emotional development, drug and alcohol, mental health, family and domestic violence, child development and disabilities.
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child development and family functioning. 
  • High level of cultural awareness and experience working with families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • An understanding of current child protection legislation and policy reforms.

About the pay…

  • Position is classified Level 6.1 – 6.3 under the SCHCADS award;
  • Salary range is $96,970 – $101,251 plus superannuation (pro-rata for part-time);
  • In addition, as a registered Not for Profit/Charity, we offer excellent salary packaging options through RemServ which can significantly increase your take home pay.

  • Current driver’s licence.
