About the team:

This role is formally based in our new office in South Melbourne, however travel to kindergartens and early childhood services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria will be required. At the Foundation, we support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement. 

 

About the role:

Reporting into the Program Manager, TraCS, this position has become available due to internal promotion. This role is a full time, 1 year contract role (with possibility of extension).

The Child & Family Consultant will travel across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria to deliver the TraCS program to educators and early childhood staff in kindergartens and early childhood services.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Using knowledge and experience, provide coaching and support to teachers and early childhood educators to work with children whose lives have been affected by trauma.
  • Create plans which support children to develop pro-social skills (including emotional and social regulation).
  • Support referrals and links to relevant services that support children and families experiencing vulnerability.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date client management and statistical records.
  • Ensure skills and knowledge of research and practice relating to children and violence are cutting edge.

About You:

  • Essential – a minimum 5 years’ experience providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma.
  • Essential – a tertiary qualification in social welfare, with eligibility for membership of professional organization or other qualifications suitable for practice in the child and family welfare field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse. 
  • Demonstrated experience in translating relevant and emerging knowledge and theory into practice.
  • Hold a current drivers’ license and willingness and ability to use own vehicle (expense reimbursement provided).
