Child and Family Practitioner 

Permanent, part time, 2 – 4 days a week

Family Mental Health Support Service, Busselton

Relationships Australia WA is a leading provider of relationship support services to the West Australian community with professional and highly motivated staff.

About the role

We are offering permanent part-time roles for Child and Family Practitioners for our Family Mental Health Support Service, called 4families, based in Busselton. This early intervention program provides counselling and case management support to children/young people at risk of developing mental illness and their families.  Applicants should possess a relevant degree (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counselling) and experience working with children and families.

The current vacancies are for 2 to 4 days per week. 

Skills, experience, and qualifications

  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments:  in partnership with clients identify their needs and clarify goals with a focus on addressing clients’ hopes and aspirations and ascertaining their strengths and resources.
  • Provide therapeutic intervention sessions with children, young people and families as per client assessment.
  • Provide case management services to parents and their children, young people or other family members.
  • Provide outreach services and home-based support, assist with family-centred activities, establishing routines, practical assistance, skills development, peer support and mentoring, in support of the family achieving their goals.

The position holder must also have some flexibility to work after hours if required from time to time.
