JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity 

We are seeking to appoint a Child and Family Practitioner to join the Intensive Family Support Service Logan on a permanent full-time basis with flexible work from home options.

In this role you will be the Lead Case Manager, who will also provide a mix of therapeutic and in-home parenting support complex to vulnerable and often hard to reach families to increase safety and reduce risk for the children. 

You will have a genuine passion for helping children and their families who are vulnerable and are at risk of entering the child protection system. Ideally you will have at least two years’ experience providing lead case management with families to identify and prioritise and address child protection concerns.   

What you’ll need 

  • Degree qualified in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline    
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues that impact on families, including knowledge of family violence, mental health, child protection issues, substance abuse, child and adolescent development, trauma and attachment.   
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and collaborating with vulnerable families, and stake holder agencies, doing ongoing assessments, and the provision of family support to vulnerable children and families, including an understanding of therapeutic interventions.   
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and the ability collaborate with stakeholders, to produce clear, accurate and concise written case notes and reports, balancing both case meetings and pre-set timeframes.  
  • Experience working within a case management model; balancing the workload to produce high quality case work including assessments and written work such as reports and case notes within pre-set timeframes.  
  • You must hold a current positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card)    
  • An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.
