About the Opportunity
This is a permanent opportunity that can be offered on either a full-time (35 hours week). or part-time basis.
This position can be based at either of the following towns:
Dubbo, Bourke, Mudgee, Cobar, or Nyngan. With regular outreach across the Bourke, Cobar, and Coonamble statistical area.
As a Child and Family Counsellor, you will be responsible for providing a range of therapeutic and group work services to individuals, children, and families, aimed at improving health and wellbeing and an increased capacity to manage and experience relationships positively. You will need to have an in depth understanding of mental health issues young people can experience, as well as the ability to assertively engage with vulnerable young people and their families, including those who may exhibit challenging behaviours.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications (Diploma Minimum) in Counselling, Social Work or equivalent
- Eligibility for membership of relevant professional body ie ACA
- Hold a current provisional Drivers Licence or above
- Ability to outreach to the North-Western Statistical Area of NSW as required
- Competence in working with issues of violence
- Demonstrated ability to manage high conflict individuals and families with complex issues
- Understanding of Child Protection issues
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication, organisation and record keeping skills
- Proven computer skills including word processing, accessing emails and internet and the willingness to be trained in a data collection system
- This role involves planned Outreach, and you must be willing to travel to communities across Far West NSW
