About the Role

Centrecare is seeking an energetic and talented Coordinator to join our team on a part time basis (0.9 FTE). Located at in a purpose-built building on the grounds of the East Maddington Primary School, this role requires a passion for supporting the Early Years – a strategic thinker with an excellent ability to build relationships with families and key stakeholders. You will work in collaboration with local primary schools, a local advisory committee and partner agencies to coordinate and deliver high-quality, coordinated services for children pre-birth to eight years of age and their families at and through the East Maddington Child and Parent Centre.

A Few Specifics

Reporting to Centrecare’s Program Manager, the overall purpose of the Coordinator Child & Parent Centre is to support families and children to build their skills, knowledge and confidence using a range of early childhood and family focused initiatives. Duties will include:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the CPC, including leading a small team
  • Provide and coordinate a range of government and non-government, universal and targeted programs/services at and through the CPC for children and their families
  • Provide early identification, support for and referral of families to appropriate services
  • Coordinate services that increase the number of children who are ‘school ready’ and making successful transitions into school.
  • Plan and implement Information Sessions/Workshops tailored to the specific needs of the community such as young parents, fathers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander or CaLD parents.
  • Establish relevant networks and links with the community and other service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for families and children.

Essential Criteria

  • Possession of a current ‘C’ (previously ‘A’) class driver’s licence and vehicle.
  • Federal Police Clearance. and Working with Children Card.
  • Recognised tertiary level qualifications in Social Work, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol, Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or related disciplines.
  • Relevant experience in the areas of family/individual support / case management, outreach and/or homelessness.
  • Well developed communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Computer literacy skills and the ability to collect statistical data related to service delivery.
  • Ability to work with a broad cross section of people to include business, other community based agencies, government and different socio-economic and cultural groups.
  • An understanding of strength based approaches to client services.
  • Ability to work within a team.
