About The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre

We are a leading organisation offering a comprehensive suite of services to clients and the community across the Barwon, Warrnambool, West Melbourne and Wimmera Regions. Providing specialist sexual assault and family violence programs and services, including 24 hour crisis care support, crisis accommodation, case management, therapeutic counselling, early intervention and professional education and training, we continue to grow and develop our offerings.

About The Role

This role will hold responsibility for providing practice guidance to staff employed at the refuge with a focus on identifying and supporting the unique needs of children and young people. This guidance will include supporting staff to consistently ensure that the developmental, therapeutic, practical and
social needs of children residing at refuge are met, as well as interventions that are designed to increase their emotional safety, and to support the mother-child attachment. This position will also have responsibility for the development of practice guidelines for working with children and young people at refuge.
This role will have a primary focus on supporting staff at the Morgana Refuge in the Barwon Region, however may also provide secondary support to staff at the Emma House Refuge in Warrnambool. This position is part-time fixed term (3 days per week for 9 months).

About You

With degree qualifications in psychology, family therapy or social work, you will be able to demonstrate experience in the delivery of therapeutic interventions, case management and risk assessment. With a comprehensive understanding of the issues relating to sexual assault and family violence within a gendered context, you have significant knowledge and expertise in working therapeutically with the dynamics and effects of interpersonal trauma.
