Your Opportunity

The role reports to the National Child and Youth Safe Lead, and sits within the broader Practice Quality team, which is a component of the MA Practice, Evidence and Impact business unit.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Implement a range of activities to embed the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations in accordance with the National Child & Youth Safe Work Plan.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of Child & Youth Safe training.

  • Engage with Service Delivery stakeholders to support and track progress on the implementation of the National Child and Youth Safe Plan.

  • Support the National Child & Youth Safe Lead in the review of existing child and youth safe policies, procedures and practices.

  • Respond to staff queries in relation to child and youth safe obligations and responsibilities.

  • Participate in meetings and report on progress to the Child and Youth Safe Team and Child and Youth Safe Clinical and Care Committee.

Requirements for success

  • Direct experience working with children and young people, relevant qualifications or completed training.

  • A knowledge and motivation to work towards embedding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and other state-based child safe standards across Mission Australia’s services.

  • Clear understanding of state and territory child protection legislation within assigned jurisdictions or willingness and commitment to develop this understanding as a priority.

  • Experience in managing or supporting staff to manage allegations towards workers involving children and young people, according to legislation and internal policy or willingness to obtain these skills.

  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to form and maintain strong collaborative relationships up and down the organisation.

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to be responsive, prioritise your workload and meet timeframes.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
