About the role
The Salvation Army Graceville Centre is an umbrella name for two refuges (Byanda & Nunyara) that provide short term crisis accommodation for women with or without children who are escaping Family & Domestic Violence and/or homelessness. This centre also provides some medium term, supported transitional housing (Cornelie Court) and an outreach service. Nunyara can accommodate 6 women without children. Byanda can accommodate 6 women with children. Cornelie Court can accommodate 8 families.
We are seeking a values-driven Child Case Worker, reporting to the Coordinator. You will identify the needs of traumatised children and determine the best strategies of support including Play Therapy, Safe From the Start, Protective Behaviours, and advocacy with other service providers.
You will successfully
- Provide a holistic approach that adopts spiritual, physical & emotional care
- Build relationships with mothers & their children encouraging self-determination and participation
- Engage children in programs/services on-site and/or offsite to develop skills and confidence
- Develop case plans with input from the mother and other team members to support child development
- Design music and play programs to improve coordination, language and moto skills
This is a full time permanent position based in Perth. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 4.
You will have
- Tertiary qualification in Social & Community Services or related field, a degree qualification is preferred
- Relevant experience working with traumatised children and planning applicable activities and programs
- A Working with Children Check
- A current Drivers licence
- A willingness to undergo a National Police check
