Grafton Community Health Integrated, Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect Service (IPARVAN) are seeking a highly motivated Health Child Protection Counsellor to:

Provide high quality clinical services and leadership as an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team for patients/clients of the Northern NSW Local Health District. As part of the Integrated Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect (IPARVAN) Service, Child Protection Counsellors provide a tertiary counselling service to children, young people and families where child abuse and domestic violence has occurred.

 

If you have:

  • Relevant qualification in Bachelor of Social Work and eligible for membership of The Australian Social Work Association OR Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) prior to commencing.
  • Understanding of developmental or complex trauma, the dynamics of child abuse and neglect and the impact of maltreatment upon children, young people and their families.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical reasoning and ability to apply professional judgement when performing novel, complex or critical tasks within the scope of practice of the position.
  • Effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
