Child Support Worker

Molonglo Support Services is a not-for-profit community-based organisation providing holistic domestic violence and homelessness support services, which has operated in Queanbeyan/Palerang and the region for over four decades.

We are currently seeking applications from experienced, compassionate and motivated candidates to join a small supportive team working 32 hours per week as a Domestic Violence Child Support Worker for Louisa Domestic Violence Service.  Louisa Domestic Violence Services provides support, accommodation, and outreach to women, children and men escaping domestic violence.

The Domestic Violence Child Support Worker’s role is to assist children to overcome the impact of having witnessed domestic and family violence. 

The role includes:

  • Case Management for children
  • Organising holiday programs and children’s activities at the shelter
  • Providing one on one and group work support to children staying at the shelter
  • Providing support and education to mothers around parenting
  • Linking children and their mothers to support services as required

About You

You will be a value driven person, and motivated to make a difference.  If you have excellent communications skills, the ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team and a can-do attitude, we look forward to hearing from you.

Selection Criteria

  • Associate diploma/ Cert 4 with relevant experience would be an advantage
  • Clear understanding of the impact of domestic/ family violence on children or a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of the Child Protection Act and mandatory reporting requirements or the ability to learn
  • Lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience
  • Clear understanding of causes and effects of domestic / family violence
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload
  • Experience with case management desirable
  • Ability to build rapport with children and youth

Essential Criteria

  • Have (or the ability to gain) a NSW Working with Children Check  
  • Current driver’s license
  • Criminal history check
  • 2 referees

SCHADS Level 4 depending on experience and qualifications including paid lunch breaks plus PBI Salary Packaging available
