What you’ll be doing
This position provides a coordination function across NSLHD to improve management of vulnerable children, young people and their families. The role provides advice, support and education to staff within NSLHD to determine the level of risk to a child or young person; identifies potential agency responses or services and drives better alignment and coordination of agency service systems. This role ensures NSLHD’s staff adhere and implement Child Protection Policies and Procedures ensuring all suspected risk of significant harm (ROSH) matters are reported to the Child Protection Helpline. This role acts as a key link between the Health Child Wellbeing Unit and NSLHD.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- Tertiary qualifications in a clinical discipline, social work, psychology or other relevant social sciences discipline and/or relevant experience. Current unrestricted Drivers Licence which is valid in NSW.
- Considerable experience and understanding of child protection principles and practice with an ability to interpret the legislative context within child protection interventions and an understanding of current and previous reforms within the sector.
- Ability to design strategic resources and ensuring targets are met as identified through key performance measures.
- Proficient in the use of information and communication technology programs, for tasks such as word processing, data entry, emailing, presentations, internet searches, web based applications, reporting; and ability to readily learn new systems.
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced problem solving and analytical skills in relation to child protection and wellbeing risk appraisal and decision making.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to elicit pertinent information, provide timely and relevant advice, negotiate and solve problems. Demonstrated conflict resolution, motivation of staff, team collaboration and developing professional relationships within and across agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships, networking with a range of stakeholders, and the ability to understand processes, to foster flexible approaches to delivery of services with an ability to work in isolation, in an environment of high and competing demands.
