We are looking for someone who is experienced in providing case work, therapeutic group work and community support work, and who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, young people and their families who are at risk of and affected by, mental illness.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Central Coast Connect team are looking for a dedicated and experienced Child, Youth and Family Worker for our Family Mental Health Support Service program (Connect). The Connect Program assists children and young people, with emerging mental health issues, and their families, to improve their mental health outcomes later in life.

This position will provide a range of high-quality case work, therapeutic group work and community development services to children, young people and their families who are at risk of, and affected by, mental illness. Please refer to job description attached for a full list of duties.

This position has been identified as a role requiring a First Nations worker to work closely with the local community and support the Organisation through the provision of information and advice related to working with first nations communities.

This position is based on Darkinjung country. You will be working from our Tuggerah office as well as across multiple work sites within the region, including local primary and high schools. This position will also provide a home visiting service within the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie region. The use of your own personal vehicle will also be required if a pool car is not available. All kilometres will be reimbursed when using your own personal vehicle.

This is a permanent part time position, 67.5 hours per fortnight, with the flexibility to negotiate your working days and hours, between Monday – Friday, 8am – 8pm. However, some weekend work may also be required to attend community events from time to time.

The classification of this position in reference to the SCHADS award, is Level 5. The hourly rate is $51.32ph, plus 11% superannuation and access to NFP Salary Packaging.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander – Interrelate considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW
  2. Minimum Certificate IV in Case Management, Community Services or similar. A higher qualification will be highly regard, but not essential.
  3. Experience working with and understanding of mental illness; particularly with First Nations Families and children and understanding the impact that emerging mental illness can have on a person’s life, their families, and children (particularly people with complex needs and high levels of disadvantage), and a demonstrated understanding of client centred work and recovery-oriented practice in a mental health framework.
  4. Case management experience, with the ability to coordinate flexible service delivery working within an individualised case management or care coordination framework.
  5. Experience delivering therapeutic and educational group work programs to children, young people, parents and their families.
  6. Current NSW Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
