The Supervised Contact Worker position is responsible for providing high quality supervision for visits between children and/or young persons and their families. This position must ensure that the child’s best interests are protected during contact. The aim is to facilitate a safe and constructive contact visit comprising of positive interactions between the parent/participant and child/children in order to build and/or maintain their relationship. The Supervised Contact Worker will work with children in out of home care as well as children from separated families.

We are looking for individuals who fulfil the following criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. social welfare, psychology, education, counselling, community services or related experience.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people and people with a disability.
- The ability to work with clients who display challenging and difficult behaviours.
- Mature, excellent communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Excellent observational and report writing skills.
- Understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Sound knowledge of child development.
- Ability to remain impartial, maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Ability to risk assess varying situations.
- Enjoys working autonomously, has the ability to think on their feet and make decisions in complex situations.
- Current drivers licence, your own comprehensively insured vehicle and access to a computer that you are willing to use for work purposes.
- Ability to be flexible and to work non-standard hours is required. An ability to work regular weekends, outside of school hours and travel to venues around Newcastle, Maitland and Port Stephens a MUST.

This position would also require the ideal canditiate to be available on relatively short notice to cover sick and personal leave. The position is a casual position, with no guarantee for hours, but with the hope of building hours.
